The Plan Register in Hiro is your single place to keep track of all your technical plans, retain full version history, and keep all related documents together in one central place.
The general flow of adding and uploading plans to the Plan Register is based on the following four workflows:
1. Provision
The provision capabilty can be optionally enabled per plan type in the Plan Type Settings.
If you enable plan number provisioning, you can upload a list of known plan numbers for a plan type, which are stored invisibly to all users in Hiro. When someone requests a new plan number be allocated to a project, the provisioned pool of numbers is called upon for determing which numbers to allocate.
These "provisioned pool numbers" are deliberately hidden and not searchable once they have been added to Hiro to avoid numbers being inadvententy reused on multiple plans before they have been appropriately allocated.

2. Allocate
Allocation is the process where either:
- the next available number from the provisioning pool is allocated to a job number; or
- for plan types with provisioning disabled, the plan number is manually entered into the Plan Register.

3. Upload Plan Version
Once the plan number is allocated, there are two different experiences for uploading plan documents: upload first version and supersede. Learn more about the process of uploading plan documents in this article.
