Introduction
Hiro makes it easy to categorise and track both chargeable and non-chargeable time in your Timesheets. Whether you're logging hours spent on client projects or internal tasks like meetings or enquiries, you can do it all within one system.
All time entries in Hiro are managed through Timesheets, but non-chargeable time is handled differently than project-specific hours. Here's a summary of the differences:
| Non-chargeable "job 0" | Projects - enquiries & jobs | |
| Where are they entered? | Timesheets | Timesheets |
| How do I categorise time? | Non-chargeable timesheet work types | Work Schedule (phase/task/subtask) |
| Where to customise? | Timesheet Work Types | Edit Project Details |
Entering Non-Chargeable Time
There’s no need to create a separate project for non-chargeable work. Hiro includes a built-in project called Job 0, specifically for logging time that won’t be billed to clients. This is ideal for tracking internal tasks, admin, or any work that doesn't directly relate to a client job.
To log non-chargeable time:
- Go to Timesheets.
- From the calendar at the top of the page, select the date you wish to record time for (the calendar will default to today's date).
- When selecting the project, type "0" and select Job 0 for non-chargeable activities.
- Fill out the relevant details (type of nonchargeable time, duration, description).
Categorising Non-Chargeable Time
Hiro comes with default categories for non-chargeable work, making it easier to organise your time. These include:
- Equipment Maintenance
- General Admin
- Meetings
- Professional Activity / Training
You can configure these work types based on your organisation’s needs:
- Navigate to Settings.
- Select Timesheet Work Types.
- Here, you can modify existing work types or add new categories for non-chargeable time.
